If you are looking for a unique healing experience in Seoul, Gangdong Greenway Camping Site is the perfect place.
Here is my recent, honest review of this beautiful urban camping spot.
Why Gangdong Greenway Camping Site is Special for Tourists

Imagine this: You’ve spent the whole day walking through the futuristic skyscrapers of Seoul and the crowded streets of Myeongdong. Your feet are tired, and you want a break from the neon lights. What if you could escape to a peaceful, green forest without even leaving the city?

Gangdong Greenway Camping Site is a truly hidden treasure in Seoul. Because it is located right inside the city, the accessibility is amazing. The best part? You don’t need to buy or pack heavy camping gear. For just 33,000 KRW (about $24 USD), you can rent a wooden deck with a large tent already set up for you! It is spacious enough for 4 to 5 people to sleep comfortably.

Right next to your tent, there is a large wooden picnic table perfect for an authentic Korean BBQ party. If you are worried about food, don’t be! There are large supermarkets like E-Mart nearby where you can easily buy fresh meat and groceries. You don’t even need to bring BBQ tools. The convenience store inside the Gangdong Greenway Camping Site rents out all the necessary grilling equipment for just around 30,000 KRW. It is the ultimate budget-friendly healing experience in Seoul.

Facilities and Amenities
For international travelers, camping in a foreign country can be intimidating. However, Gangdong Greenway makes it effortless.

The Gangdong Greenway Camping Site features exceptionally clean restrooms, hot showers, and well-maintained communal dishwashing areas. Everything is sparkling clean and modern.
If you are renting a car, parking is incredibly convenient. Each camping site comes with 1 dedicated parking space, and it is 100% FREE! There is a short, pleasant walk (about 3 to 5 minutes) from the parking lot to your tent,

but you don’t have to carry your heavy bags. The campsite provides free moving carts to transport your luggage smoothly. You can literally just show up with your groceries and enjoy!

The store stocks various beverages such as cola and soda, as well as snacks and daily necessities. You can also rent all the equipment needed to start a barbecue right away, including charcoal and blazers.

A wide variety of food items, including coffee, snacks, gum, ice cream, bottled water, and instant noodles, are fully stocked. Of course, cash is accepted, but card payments are also available.

You really just need money. With just money and your body, you can enjoy yourself comfortably. And at a low price, too.

The restroom and shower room are located close together.

The pork belly was incredibly delicious grilled over charcoal.

We can’t leave out the flank steak either. I bought the flank steak at Emart Traders; it was Australian and cost about 80,000 won for 3kg. It was really delicious.

The dining table was large and sturdy, so I could place food on it and eat with peace of mind without it wobbling. The chairs were also fixed, which was very comfortable.

The tents were pre-set at this location. The fee for the pre-set tent sites is 33,000 won, while the sites where you must bring your own tent cost 28,000 won (you can park your vehicle nearby). The cheapest option is 13,000 won, but you must bring your own campsite there as well.

This is a place where you can do the dishes. The water pressure is good, and it’s nice.

This is a device for disposing of charcoal and food waste. It is located inside the dishwashing facility.

Crucial Survival Tips You Cannot Miss
Picture this: The sun sets over Seoul, the Korean BBQ is sizzling on the grill, and you are holding a cold drink, enjoying the perfect romantic evening. But suddenly, you hear a tiny, high-pitched buzz near your ear.

If you are planning to visit Gangdong Greenway Camping Site during the summer, you need to prepare for battle—against Korean mosquitoes! These local bugs are incredibly aggressive, and they love tourists. If you don’t want to spend your night scratching instead of sleeping, you must pack three essentials: mosquito repellent spray, anti-mosquito coils (or electric traps), and soothing bite creams. Also, even if the daytime is hot, wearing lightweight long-sleeved shirts and long pants at night is a total lifesaver. Trust me, you don’t want to meet these forest mosquitoes unprepared!
Another critical thing to remember is that this campsite is an absolute hotspot for locals. Getting a spot here is like trying to win a ticket to a BTS concert! As mentioned earlier, the entire schedule for the following month opens on the 5th of every month at exactly 10:00 AM (KST) on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning a trip to Korea, you need to mark your calendar a month in advance, set an alarm, and secure your booking early.
Check-in is from 1:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Important! The reservation holder’s ID is required for check-in. We verify everything strictly, so please do not forget to bring your ID.
Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?
To be completely honest, you don’t need to stress about packing for this trip. Just bring your appetite, some good Korean pork belly, instant ramen, and rice. For everything else? Your wallet is your ultimate camping gear! Since you can rent and buy all the essentials right on-site, it offers a level of convenience that is hard to find anywhere else in the world, making it a truly unforgettable and stress-free memory for travelers.
If you are traveling with kids, Gangdong Greenway Camping Site goes from a “good choice” to an “absolute jackpot.” Right inside the quiet forest, there is a fantastic nature playground where children can run around safely and burn off their energy. Plus, just a short walk away lies a beautiful Herb Park, where your family can touch, smell, and experience various fresh herbs in a peaceful setting.
If you want to experience authentic local life, save money, and treat your family to a magical green getaway right in the heart of Seoul, Gangdong Greenway is waiting for you.
